Dear Member Associates,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the Bulgarian Archery Federation (BAF) we would kindly like to invite you to take part in the 2nd Leg of the EMAU-Grand Prix, which is to be held in May 19 – 24, 2009 in Sofia – Bulgaria. This is to be the Second Round of the European Circuit for the current year.

Enclosed you will find the Tournament information needed cum the necessary documents concerning registration and participation in the event.

We will be very happy to meet and warmly welcome you in Sofia.

The tournament will be organized and held on the premises of the King’s Village - Spa Centre 4**** hotel itself. Hotel’s prices include: bed, breakfast, lunch, dinner on the spot. The rates are in Euro per person and per day. Personal insurance is also provided for each athlete. A free parking place is provided to each hotel guest. Free Wi-Fi.
The hotel’s outdoor sports facilities will be available for the smooth running of the whole tournament.

From airport, bus or railway station to the hotels – (arrival and departure): 20 € / person
Transportation from hotels venue /to and from/ will be free.

For all nations that will need visa permits, please make sure to apply for such as early as possible in your country of origin before leaving. If our help is needed you may contact us immediately for we could send an official invitation over to the Bulgarian Embassy for further cooperation.

There are card phones of two types: Mobika (blue phones) and Bulfon (orange phones), with cards for each ranging in price from 4 to 25 leva. They can be bought at certain shops, kiosks or post offices. Europe, America, Near East, Japan, Africa and Australia can be dialed directly. For those countries that cannot be dialed directly and for any other kind of international operator assistance dial 0123. There are three Bulgarian mobile operators: M-Tel, GloBul and Vivatel. There is no problem for foreign nationals to become their clients. Debit impulse cards or SIM cards could be found in specialized shops. Emergency phone: 112.



Money:

 
 

Bulgaria’s currency is called Lev (BGL), plural: Leva. One Lev is made up of 100 stotinki. Now the currency is tied to the EURO and the exchange rate is fixed at EURO1 = BGL 1,95583. Exchange bureaux are found on all major streets in Sofia. Some of them located in the downtown area of the city charge commission. Best to ask how much you will receive before you hand over your money. Don’t be tempted to change money on the streets or you might be cheated. Travellers cheques must be cashed at banks and most charge a commission.



Public Transport:

 
 

There are trams, buses and trolley buses (and a recently-opened short section of underground railway), which cover most of the city). There is also a fleet of privately run “Marshroute taxis” which covers the whole city – ticket price 1,50 leva; pay the driver as you get on. Public transport runs daily from 5 a.m. till 11.30 p.m.. Tickets: single use, for any distance on any tram, bus or trolleybus line – price: 1,00 leva.



Popular Taxi Cervice:

 
 

All legal registered taxi cubs must be yellow and operate by meter. Rates, starting and callout charges must by law be displayed on the windows. Dispatchers and drivers usually speak only Bulgarian, so you may need someone to help you order one by phone and you should learn how to name your destination. Taxi fares: 0,54 – 1,00 leva per km; with 0,60 – 1,00 starting fee. Popular taxis:

Awards Ceremony:
                It is required that each team should bring its National Anthem
( on a CD or on a pen-drive) and a country’s Flag (90cm x 120cm approx).

Pre-payments:
Booking will only be regarded valid as soon as a 50 % downpayment has been received by the Organising Committee, as required. The teams will be asked to present the prepayment receipts before the Committee on check-in. Full payments are to be made upon arrival while registering  at the Tournament venue.
